About Us PWC

Kalkinny Kennels Perm Registered (Canadian Kennel Club registration #29142019  is owned by and registered to Louise Bouchat-Laird of Ottawa, Ontario.

Louise has been a Chartered Professional Accountant CPA,CGA since 1985 and has owned dogs for most of her life.  She co-founded two all-breed canine rescue organizations which helped place hundreds of abused and abandoned dogs in the Ottawa area over more than 20 years. She first fell in love with the Pembroke Welsh Corgi when her youngest daughter purchased her first PWC in 2019 (Anya).

For the next two years, Louise was in contact with Dr Benjamin Lobo, a reputable PWC breeder in Ottawa who had been working closely with long time breeder and judge Barbara De Pree. Louise had seen thier Corgis in the show rings for numerous years and had always admired them. She visited Dr Lobo’s kennel several times as she was seriously thinking of breeding and showing her own PWCs. In 2021, Dr Lobo had two litters on the ground. Her daughter had mentioned she was looking for a second PWC, a male this time. One particular male from Dr Lobo’s first litter was to go to a pet home as he could not be bred as he was a full fluff. He (Lincoln) now lives happily in London ON with Louise and her husband Alan’s daughter, Son in law and wee Anya.

Both Alan and Louise fell in love with both Anya and little Lincoln and decided to purchase their foundation PWC bitch from Dr Lobo’s second litter.

Piper a.k.a. GRCH BredRight to Kalkinnny, a stunning red and white, fast became a huge part of their family. They began showing her at the age of 10 months and within 3 show weekends (handled by the amazing Sarah Muth), wee Piper received her Canadian Champion title. Piper achieved her Canadian Grand Champion Title after only 3 weekend shows in Oct 2023, thanks to Sarah Muth’s amazing handling.

It is their goal to produce the highest quality Pembroke Welsh Corgis. All their PWCs are/will be conformation Champions and are/will be O.F.A tested for Degenerative myelopathy (DM), Von Willebrandメs disease (vWD), eyes and hips.
